Lecture Next Friday!
You are encouraged to attend Professor Mark Edmundson's lecture, "Why Read?," which will be presented at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 in the lower level of the Farley Library. A reception and book signing will follow the lecture. Professor Edmundson's lecture is based on his 2004 best selling book of the same title.
He is also the author of that essay on the dumbing down of college classes I had you write about.

I was hoping someone else would chime in.
Some people argue strongly that video game skills are transferrable.
treating asperger syndrom,
training soldiers for asymmetric warfare, reduce surgical errors etc. etc.
any of those look plausible?

many people (in their essays) are taking jessica's position that games are not educational.
possible video games are good at teaching *some* skills, but not *other* skills?
possibly some things are more difficult to be learned via a game?
any suggestions for something that a video game can't teach?
